Revival of the Cossacks in the system of the national paradigm

In the article, the term “revival of the Cossacks” is understood as the process of socio-political transformation of the modern Russian Cossacks in the context of which a democratic transformation of public life takes place, the modernization of the rule of law and the development of civil relations.
Based on the institutional-integrating paradigm, state and local government bodies can define and fully ensure the institutional functioning of the modern Russian Cossacks. Otherwise, the Cossack movement loses the clear goals of the “revival of the Cossacks” with the prospect of transformation into a sociocultural group that differs only in specific folklore.
Keywords: Identity, Cossacks, supraethnic community, national paradigm, community, patriotism, register, self-awareness.

Specifics of German engagement in the peacekeeping operations in the Arab world

The article is devoted to the analysis of the German participation in the settlement of the crises in the Middle East and North Africa, as well as to the identification of the priorities Germany adheres while deciding on the format of peacekeeping operations. Author notes, that German government gives preference to the multilateral engagement in the military operations, namely within the context of UNO, EU or “NATO+”. Enforcement mandate is critical for Germany’s involvement. As analyzed, German military forces were engaged in the peacemaking, peacekeeping and peacebuilding missions, deployed in the Arab world. However author concludes that despite “Atlantic solidarity” Germany didn’t support any preventive actions of NATO in the Middle East and North Africa, preferring to take preventive measures in the framework of European Union and only in case of a threat to European security and under UN mandate.
Keywords: Germany, Middle East and North Africa, UNO, NATO, peacekeeping, post-conflict peace-building.

Istoma (Savva) Argunov as one the first atamans of the Berezov town

The most famous among the first atamans of Berezovo Istoma (Savva) Argunov at the beginning of at least more than 30 years of service in the city participated in the campaign against the ruler of the Pinto horde, Prince Vonya, when the Narym prison was built, on an expedition to the Podkamennaya Tunguska, where he imposed fur taxation on the Evenki, and then due to the rebellion threat, which was going to raise the local «foreigners» being built or repaired Berezovsky strengthening, apparently with sable «treasury» went to Moscow (during one of these «packages» ataman was captured by men of Tushino, but under unclear circumstances he managed to escape and returned to Siberia). The opinion of some historians that Argunov was among Berezovo servicemen, who founded in 1600 with Tobolsk and Surgut servicemen the Mangazeya jail, should be rejected, as the version of E.V. Vershinin, if a close ally of Ermak Argun Andriev the creator of the Pinezh chronicle in the middle of the 17th century meant Istoma (he found himself over the Urals thirteen years after the occupation by free Cossacks of the capital of Khan Kuchum – Kashlyk or Isker).
Keywords: Istoma (Savva) Argunov, chronology of his atamanship in Berezovo, campaigns to the Narym Ob and Podkamennaya Tunguska, Mangazeya expeditions of 1600 and 1601, I. Argunov’s trips to Moscow, Pinezh Chronicle.

Problems of Sino-Japanese Relations in the early 21st century

In this article, the relations between the PRC and Japan at the beginning of the XXI century are considered. The first decade of the new twenty-first century. Was marked by the aggravation of Sino-Japanese relations. In 2001, the first «trade war» occurred between the countries. During the same period, the Japanese government decided to reduce economic assistance to China, and since 2008 has completely stopped providing it. Large-scale assistance to China was called upon to ensure good relations between the two states and economically reorient to tie China to Japan. Refusal to provide low-interest loans and assistance can lead to the loss of Japan’s strategic initiative with respect to its neighbor.
Keywords: China, Japan, USA, cooperation, rivalry. negotiations, the Senkaku Islands.

In the case of Yaroshenko «The Villainous attempt on the life of a student of an academician ...»: materials of the case of the Police Department on patriotic society Two-headed eagle (1906 - 1907)

The documents presented for publication for the first time allow us to present the specifics of the political struggle in such a large provincial center of the Russian Empire as Kiev was. The documents show that the investigation conducted by the Special Department of the Police Department proved that the circumstances presented in the testimony of N.M. Yaroshenko and other members of the society «Two-headed Eagle» do not correspond to reality. Documents reveal little-known pages of the right-monarchist organization «Two-headed Eagle».
Keywords: right-monarchism, Black-Hundredness, Two-headed Eagle, Revolution 1905-1907, Police Department, autocracy.

Missionary activity of the Russian Orthodox Church on Kamchatka (the end of XVII – the beginning of the 20th centuries)

In development of the severe peninsula the special role belongs to the Orthodox Church. At the end of the 17th century to Kamchatka with the first groups of the Yakut Cossacks there arrived the priests who bore to the local population not only orthodox belief, but also the literacy.
Noticeable contribution to the history of the peninsula was made by the Kamchatka Spiritual mission of 1745 - 1750, headed by the archimandrite Ioasaf Hotuntsevskiy who promoted construction of churches, if the first church (Nikolskaya) has been put in 1713, then by the beginning of the 20th century on Kamchatka there were already 70 temples and chapels. The mission opened schools for the children, carried out big missionary work and successfully turned the locals into Orthodoxy.
After establishment of the Soviet power, in the territory of Kamchatka the Decree about disestablishment has been enacted. All temples have been destroyed or were used for the other designated purpose (clubs, storages) and there has come the period of atheistic promotion.
The present article reflects the history of missionary activity of the Russian Orthodox Church in Kamchatka at the end of XVII – the beginning of the 20th centuries.
