On the question of forming of Russian Cossacks’ self-identity in the modern world
The article analyzes the current status and the formation of self-identity of the Russian Cossacks. This process is taking place simultaneously with the formation of the new state in Russia, so it is complex and often controversial. Scholars are in the process of formulating theories and conducting primary experiments. Cossacks’ traditional values become the spiritual basis of the informal ideology of the biggest part of the society.

Commander Aleuts in the Soviet transformation of 1920-s: achievements and failures
The article describes the first Soviet reforms and their results in the local society of Kamchatka’s Aleuts. The study is based on the archive materials of Kamchatka State Archive. The article is devoted to the sovietization process among one local ethnical group of Kamchatka, that is Commander Aleuts. This process is still unexplored, especially the period of 1920-s. The author reveals the main directions of sovietization process and its first achievements and failures.

Military ethnic groups as actors of international relations
This paper presents the process of expanding the number of participants (actors) in international relations, which takes place in wartime. Ethnic groups are also getting engaged in active military operations, especially those that have a military component in their psychological makeup and education. Such groups include the Cossacks, Circassians, Moroccan Goumiers, Zouaves, Maori.

Romania’s geostrategic role in the Black Sea region
The article analyzes the main foreign initiatives of Romania, aimed at strengthening its position in the Black Sea region. The geostrategic importance of the Black Sea for Romania and the EU is of great importance and represents a significant economic opportunity for development, but also has many security problems. The Black Sea region is characterized by complex processes related to security threat. Using specific methods of historical research, the paradigm of international relations and foreign policy analysis, the author of this article analyzes the foreign policy of Romania in the framework of NATO, the EU, as well in the context of strategic partnerships with the United States. The article also analyzes the importance and significance of Romania’s cooperation with Russia.

The study focuses on newspaper articles about charity published in Russia in 1860s-1880s. Mass media as a primary source for studying charity as a socio-cultural phenomenon provides us with challenging information about its place and role in the life of the Russian society in the mid 19th century.

Warfare activities of the northern shore artillery batteries during the defense of Sevastopol in December 1941
This study conducted is based on archival documents and materials about the history of the shore artillery batteries #30 и 10, which defended the northern territory of the Sevastopol’s Defensive Area with other shore batteries and movable batteries, and were playing an extraordinary role during the defense of Sevastopol.

The significance and difficulty of normalization of relations between China and the Vatican – the Holy See
The article describes the significance and difficulty of normalization of relations between China and the Vatican (the Holy See). As important objects in contemporary international relations, between China and the Vatican (the Holy See) should be partner relations, so the normalization of Sino-Vatican relations is of great importance for both parties and international relations. But the problems in the process of normalization of Sino-Vatican relations relate to many areas and are very complex. Normalization of relations between China and the Vatican (the Holy See) will still be a long-term process. The methodological basis of this study is the principles of cultural and historical methods of scientific knowledge.

The Book of Sazonov contains a lot of interesting facts from the history of the Cossacks.
