The role of the Turkic-tatar states of the golden horde component in ethno-social development of the Don Cossacks

The modern historical science has no consensus regarding the emergence and development of the Cossack communities. However, researchers kazakovite converge in the question of what a significant influence on the development of the don Cossacks, the creation of their «steppe knights» had the Golden Horde and postordynskie state. The process of ethno-social development of the don Cossacks was also a significant presence of the Turkic element, which found its reflection in the life, culture, ethnolinguistic features. The long-term contacts with the neighboring Mongol States, in particular the Crimean khanate, is reflected in the development of diplomatic relations of the Cossack communities. The study’s author raises the issue of the Turkic-Tatar influence on the ethnosocial development of the don Cossacks, using the institutional method and the method of historicism. The result comes to conclusions about frontmost development of ethno-social community of the don, the degree of influence of the Golden Horde and postorgasmic States for the don Cossacks and the development of contacts with the Crimean khanate.

Yesaul I.A. Peshkov: participation of Trans-Baikalian Cossacks-emigrants in the anti-Bolshevist movement (1920’s – early 40-ies.)

The article is devoted to participation of Trans-Baikalian Cossacks-emigrants in the anti-Bolshevik movement of the 1920-ies – early 40-ies, stationed in Manchuria. Based on the biography of one of the White guerrilla commanders, captain I. A. Peshkov, the author views out the stages of development of the anti-Bolshevik movement, their content and results. The anti-Bolshevik movement in the Cossack émigré circles of Manchuria, which was the result of the Civil war, reached its peak at the turn of the 1920-ies – 1930-ies. In the 1930-ies, the radical Cossack opposition was closely associated with the Japanese administration in Manchuria and suffered a complete collapse during the Second World War.

Was Alexei Galkin a Yermak’s brother-in-arms? (to the early history of «Berezov town» cossacks)

To the number of participants in «Yermak’s capture» of Siberia has long been attributed to Alexei Galkin. This opinion is based on several petitions (most of which appeared already at the beginning of the 18th century) of the descendants of A. Galkin who served in Berezovo and Yeniseisk. Contrary to the news of these documents, he was not a Berezovsky ataman for 30 years; the only corresponding instruction is found in the tsar’s charter for 1610. The mention of petitioners about the murder of A. Galkin by «foreigners» in Mangazeya is not directly confirmed in the surviving sources, and references to «Yermak’s service» are almost always trusted unconditionally. Traditional in historiography, the idea of A. Galkin as an associate of the «ratiophile ataman» can be considered no more than an assumption.
Keywords: Siberian expedition of Yermak, A. Galkin, his descendants, Berezov, atamans, Cossacks, petitions.

On the question of the history of the formation and development of local self-government bodies in pre-revolutionary Russia (on the example of the North Caucasus)

The second half of the nineteenth century was marked by a series of reforms, the most important of which was the abolition of serfdom in 1861. Reforms also touched on local self-government. The peoples of the North Caucasus did not stay away from these reforms. However, these reforms took place taking into account such local peculiarities as: mass migration of Muslims; backwardness of development of the given region in comparison with other regions of Russia; a great influence on the social life of religion.
Keywords: local self-government, vicegerency, reforms, the North Caucasus.
