A look at the traditions of the Cossacks through the prism of nosology and personal safety pedagogy

The article raises the problem of social demand for skills and abilities to ensure personal safety. This request is now quite clearly articulated in connection with the unfolding coronavirus pandemic. It can also be seen in the example of social conflicts, in which not only their conscious participants, but also random people become victims. The answer to this request was the emergence of new areas of knowledge: nosology and personal safety pedagogy. Until their subject field is developed, there is an opportunity to turn to the experience of other pedagogical models based on the principle of conformity to nature, and in which the pedagogy of personal safety is given primary attention. The article analyzes the pedagogy of the Cossacks in this vein.

Keywords: Cossacks, nosology, pedagogy, personal safety, survival, nature conservation traditions.

Russian policy in the Middle East in Arab historiography from 2011 to 2020

The article explores the main vectors of Russia's foreign policy in the Middle East through the prism of Arab historiography from 2011 to the present. The work attempts to analyze studies of the Russian Federation foreign policy by employees and members of regional research and think tanks, such as the Arab Center for Research and Political Studies, Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies (ACPSS) (Egypt), Jordan Center for Strategic Studies, Center for Arab unity studies (Lebanon) and the Qatar Al Jazeera International Media Center. The authors examine the country's behavior in the region during the “Arab spring”, as well as its participation in the resolution of the Syrian conflict and come to the following conclusions: the foreign policy of the Russian Federation after the collapse of the USSR and has now gone through several stages of development, initially taking a practically detached position during waves of protests in the Middle East and North Africa since March 2011, however, completely changing the line of behavior in future, the country acted as an active player and mediator, primarily in resolving the Syrian conflict.

Opportunities and potential of the symbolic measurements for analysis of the public policy

The article discusses symbolic dimensions used in the analysis of public policy. The goal is to determine their capabilities and potential in modern political realities. Work execution using general scientific methods of analysis, synthesis and comparison. Its main results are the definition of symbolic means as public policy resources used to legitimize the order of things established in a certain community. One of the most important dimensions in the framework of symbolic politics is memory, which acts as a certain set of structures in the sphere of communication, which projects social expectations on current reality. The components of such a dimension of symbolic politics as memory are two components of political identity: myths and rituals. The myth itself is a key link in the process of forming political identity as such. It gives members of the identified community a specific role, which in reality is only a symbol. The ritual becomes a derivative of the myth. In fact, any symbolic action for consciously or unconsciously designating one's own identity is already a certain ritual. From a historical point of view, the problems of the implementation of symbolic politics were inextricably linked with cult and religious customs, which, in essence, became the basis for the functioning of a society divided into identified groups. Today, modern society is guided to a greater extent by aspects of public policy, since religious issues have faded into the background. Accordingly, the characters are also changing - the issue of entertainment, openness, accessibility acquires a key role. The process of creating and transforming political and social traditions on the issue of political identity ultimately leads to a close relationship between the past and the present, despite the high degree of mediocrity and conditionality of this connection from the point of view of scientific discourse, which makes their study significant for modern public policy.

Keywords: public policy, symbols, memory, myths, rituals, customs.

Sydney City Buildings 1788-1821

Australia is a young state. The history of this country goes back a little over 200 years. While many European and Asian countries admired the centuries-old monuments, Australia was just beginning to create them. The most popular work of art today is the Opera House. Of course, it delights with its size, geographical location, as well as an interesting engineering solution for the construction of a shell-shaped frame. But few people know about the first developments in Sydney.

Sydney is located at Port Jackson Harbor. This city has an advantageous geographical position and a hot climate. Flora and fauna are different from those familiar to Europeans. Therefore, the first years were difficult for the colonists, and the main goal was survival. Only after the increase in the population, acclimatization and the appearance of the necessary materials for construction, the settlers began to think about creating not only practical, but also beautiful buildings.

The construction boom comes during the reign of Governor Lachlan Macquarie. In his era, Francis Greenway, an architect exiled from Great Britain to hard labor, had the opportunity to prove himself. Many of his masterpieces have survived to this day. Church of st. Matthew and St. James, which were made in the Georgian style, continue to delight not only tourists, but also Australians with their appearance. Also preserved are the barracks, hospitals and the famous lighthouse, which is located near the famous Opera Theater. The buildings of the later Greenway period will take on the features of the Victorian style, which will be brought in by settlers of the later period. Unfortunately, not everything has survived to this day. Some of it was rebuilt because the governor did not like it, but in general, walking around Sydney you can see a building from the 19th century in the center of the metropolis. Australians are very careful about preserving the historical memory of their state. We can only guess why. Possibly is connected with the peculiarities of upbringing, maybe because of the “peculiar” past, or because the history of the state is very small. Perhaps all these theories have the right to exist, but what can be said unequivocally is that the Australians cherish all architectural monuments and try to increase their historical heritage.

Keywords: Australia, Georgian style, Victorian style, convicts, colony.
