Erdogan's Turkey in a maze of solutions: is a way out of the crisis possible?

Modern muslim societies and states, going through a process of large-scale and profound changes and striving to find their place in the transforming global world, often face what is commonly called development crises. Modern Turkey is experiencing a systemic crisis associated with large-scale foreign policy initiatives, the dismantling of a number of domestic political mechanisms that ensured the stability of the Republic until the early 2000s. An attempt to get out of the crisis by generating new initiatives in both domestic and foreign policy often means not the removal, but the strengthening of existing tensions both inside and around Turkey. The author of the presented work attempts to analyze the political context within which the strategy of President Erdogan is being implemented, assesses the possible prospects of his chosen political course.

Determining the quantity of hieroglyphic signs in the ancient inscriptions

The article is devoted to the development of a new method for solving an urgent problem of pattern recognition. Such tasks are part of complex pattern recognition problems. In this work, one of such promising and urgent problems is considered: the identification of various structural elements, for example, ancient characters applied to the surface of ancient artifacts. A method for the correct identification of groove-type elements that are an integral part of various complex structural elements such as Chinese characters is briefly described. The method is based on photometry of the surface of the studied ancient artifact and subsequent digital processing of the data obtained in order to determine the characteristics and parameters characterizing the properties of the surface of the investigated artifact. The main attention is paid to the development of methods for more accurate calculation of the quantity of solitary structural elements such as ancient characters (Chinese radicals). The described research method allows us to obtain a stable and unambiguous solution to this problem: to determine the quantity of characters.
