Patriotic and moral traditions of the Cossacks in the conditions of post-Soviet Russia

The article analyses the reasons of moral decline of Russian society under democratic reforms. The author believes that humanization of social relations shall be performed based on experience of preserving original communal traditions of Russian Cossacks.

A system of spiritual, moral and patriotic education of the Cossack cadet corps

The education of the younger generation in the Russian Federation in the spirit of patriotism is one of the main directions of state policy. A striking example of this education system are the Cossack cadet corps, becoming “schools of life” for thousands of cadets. Peculiarities of the spiritual, moral and patriotic education in them and will be devoted to this article.

On the question of the Cossack system of education and training

The article analyzes the current situation with the Cossack education and upbringing in Russia. Despite the development of the country in an extensive system of Cossack education and training, stresses the lack of a unified system of training qualified specialists in the study of the Cossacks: pedagogy, psychology, sociology, economics and management. Military-patriotic and ethno-cultural education of the future should be based on the Cossacks to develop common conditions: terminological apparatus, strategy development and education, coordination of the logistics center.

Role and Place of the Cossacks of the Far East in the Fight against Smuggling in the Far East of Russia

The author deals with the topical issues of the Russian Far East’s history, that is, the role and place of the Cossacks of the Far East in combating smuggling in the Far East of Russia, including smuggling of biological resources and the questions of the relationship of the Cossacks and the customs authorities. The author for the first time introduces into scientific circulation the previously unknown archival materials from the Russian State Military Historical Archive (RSMHA), Russian State Historic Archive of the Far East (RSHA FE).

The Cossacks and the policy: the Cossacks’ version of the political institutionalization of ethnic elites

The research subject is the participation of the Cossacks in the issues of political struggle, political technology, and party construction. The research object is represented by Cossack communities of Russia that have their own unique culture, ethnic and social concepts. The methods of discourse, historicism, scientific rigor, critical attitude to sources were used as the research methodology. As a result of the research, the author concludes that despite the overall passionarity of Cossack communities, the Cossacks, as a social group, have never gravitated toward being involved in the political struggle. This situation can be described as a historical phenomenon. The explanation for the phenomenon resides in the social roots of the Cossacks, as well as the Cossacks’ ethnicity and ethnocentrism. The Cossacks’ ethnicity determined their intensive involvement in the most important public events: wars, shaping of state borders, economic activities, but prevented them from trying to form their own political parties aiming to take the power.
