Cossack separatism in the south of Russia
Today Cossacks took on a new path of development: they have institutionalized and incorporated into the system of government of the Russian Federation. The country has 11 military Cossack communities included in the State Register. There are also non-governmental organizations, a lot of which adhere to the idea of separatism as an ideological component and the formation of Cossack republics. Their most active influence was in the period of revival of the Cossacks since the 1980s to 2000, when the government began ordering Cossack societies into structure. Many Cossack leaders were left out as a result of that integration process, so sided with the creation of Cossack republic, including the Don Cossack Republic. The article is dedicated to the processes of autonomy and separatism among the Cossacks.
Keywords: Cossacks, Don, separatism, Russian, ethnicity, nationalism, autonomies.

Theory and practice of national policy in the Russian army
Until 1917, the term “foreigners” (“people of foreign race”) had been used in order to refer to a certain part of the inhabitants of Russia who were citizens of the Russian Empire. A special management order characterized by referring to their origin was applied to those people, which meant that they were not under the influence of all existing laws including the laws of military construction. Due to a number of reasons, this issue is a part of the least-studied section of the military history of Russian statehood: the role of the national factor in the military construction.
Keywords: “people of foreign race”, history, military forces, politics, sociology, culture experts.
