The role of French capital in maintaining political influence in Syria and Lebanon in the 1920s and 1930s
The article examines France's policy in Syria and Lebanon in the 1920s and 1930s based on the mandate received from the League of Nations, which allowed the European nation to continue its role as a defender of Christians and maintain political and economic influence in the region caused by the decline of the Ottoman Empire. The key conditions of France's policy in the Mediterranean region are highlighted: control over Syria, the gateway to the East, opening the way to Asia and balancing the expansion of Great Britain in this region. Moreover, by capturing Damascus, the city of the Umayyads, France, whose empire stretched to the Maghreb and West Africa, strengthened its position as a Muslim power. Initially, the terms of the mandate were limited in scope: France was instructed to "bring Syria to political self-determination, that is, independence, and protect its territorial integrity as soon as possible." The wording was vague enough to leave most of it for interpretation. Was it helping to create a sovereign state or establishing a form of soft imperialism? It is concluded that for more than twenty–five years, the various participants in the mandate – the military, clergy, and civilian administrators – remained divided in their opinions about the importance they intended to attach to their mission.

Consequences of the special military operation in Ukraine for military cooperation between Russia and Central African countries
This study analyzes the current and future implications of the Special Military Operation (SMO) in Ukraine for military-political cooperation between the Russian Federation and Central African countries, including Gabon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cameroon, the Republic of the Congo, the Central African Republic, Chad, Equatorial Guinea, and Sao Tome and Principe. In the context of growing global geopolitical tensions and changing balances of power, this study focuses on the dynamics of military-technical cooperation and prospects for deepening the strategic partnership. The renewed interest in military cooperation with Russia on the part of Central African states is explained by the latter's desire to ensure internal security and protect sovereignty, as well as to seek new sources of weapons and military assistance. The study examines key aspects such as increasing arms supplies, joint military exercises, and exchange of experience in the field of security, which allow us to identify trends towards strengthening military-political contacts. The focus is also on the future formation of new multilateral alliances and the expansion of Russia's influence on the African continent in the context of changes in international relations. It is important to note that the issues of forming sustainable models of cooperation that promote both the security of citizens and the economic development of regions are becoming especially relevant. Thus, this study is an attempt to highlight the complex and multifaceted relationships that are developing between Russia and Central Africa in the context of the transformation of the global geopolitical landscape and increased competition for influence and resources.

Features of solving physical problems on cyclic processes in thermodynamics
The formation of natural science literacy in physics lessons contributes to the fact that the teacher helps students to understand the nature of the phenomena being studied, to explain the processes and patterns of physics as a science from a scientific point of view. By solving problems that help analyze the laws of physics, students learn to use their knowledge in everyday life. The article discusses physical problems from the thermodynamics section that contribute to the formation of scientific literacy. Physics students of Armavir State Pedagogical University offer such tasks to schoolchildren, creating real situations. They consider the operation of the air conditioner in the auditorium, the cycle of the Stirling engine. The proposed tasks can be used for further development in students' research projects. In accordance with Federal State Educational Standards, one of the priorities is to develop students' research skills.
Keywords: scientific literacy, thermodynamic processes, forward and reverse cycle, operation of a heat engine, Carnot cycle.

The role of phonological analysis in improving Chinese language teaching practices
The article is devoted to the study of the role of phonological analysis in modernizing Chinese language teaching methodologies for Russian-speaking audiences. The study provides a detailed exploration of key aspects of the Chinese phonological system that present challenges for learners, including the tonal system, articulatory features of sounds, syllable structure, and phonotactic constraints. A comprehensive comparative analysis of the phonemic systems of Russian and Chinese is conducted, with particular emphasis on fundamental differences such as the absence of voicing/devoicing and hard/soft oppositions in Chinese, as well as the crucial role of tones in meaning distinction. Based on the identified contrasts, practical recommendations are offered for educators, including methods for pronunciation training, intonation practice exercises, and strategies to overcome Russian language interference. Particular attention is given to adapting traditional language teaching approaches to accommodate the specific characteristics of Chinese phonology. The findings have significant practical implications and can be applied to curriculum development, the creation of specialized teaching materials, and the organization of training programs for Chinese language teachers. The article will be of interest to a wide range of specialists in linguodidactics, phonology, and the methodology of teaching Oriental languages.
